Without You

At one time, I reached out to you. As we gently touched hands, our minds were brought together.
One.
For a time, we trusted. With complete faith in each other. But then you changed. I changed, as all beings must do. We were split apart by our own worlds. Our connection lingering by a thread, painstakingly. I reached for you, and you pulled away.
Unknowingly.
Our string was stretched, taught. As you betrayed my species. As you betrayed me.
Our connection was lost. Only then did I realize you true worth to my soul. I would reach out and with perfect recall, all that we had would come back.
But you were gone.
Now you have returned, and you have changed - yet you remain true to yourself. I reach out to you, and you are there. Hand to hand once again. So close, and yet so far, about to loose you once again.
You are who you are - human, marine, mother savior to Jaridia.
I am who I am - taelon, North American Companion, member of the commonality.
Are we willing to make the ultimate sacrifice? You are and always were. And I would truly be anointed to make that sacrifice on your behalf.
Yet I would be gone. In the void, always watching - yet gone. I am torn, but I know what I must do.
We are together. Only to find that in our reunion, I am without you once again.
